Leesburg, Va.—The ASE Education Foundation has teamed up with auto dealer associations to host student automotive competitions, and Mechanics Marketplace is proud to amplify this effort in the mechanics & body shops marketplace. These events spotlight career paths for aspiring automotive technicians, connecting schools with businesses to fuel interest in the car repair marketplace through enhanced vocational education.
“The competitions link shops with schools, inspiring students to join and stay in the automotive job market,” said Mike Coley, ASE Education Foundation president. “Our December event in Texas was a hit—40 teams and over 700 students at a career fair. It’s a key way we’re tackling the technician shortage.” As your automotive recruitment agency, Mechanics Marketplace leverages these initiatives to find mechanics looking for jobs.
2024 Competitions on Deck
Three events are set for 2024, with more in the works. The next kicks off Feb. 23 at Weber State University in Layton, Utah, followed by March in Charlotte and fall in Houston. Our automotive job search engines keep you posted on these opportunities to recruit mechanics for hire.
At the Texas Motor Speedway event, 117 high school seniors from ASE-accredited programs competed in the North Texas Automobile Dealers Auto Tech Competition. Dealer techs mentored 40 teams for weeks, guiding them to diagnose and fix bugged vehicles. This hands-on approach mirrors the real-world training we champion at Mechanics Marketplace, your auto employment agency.
A Fresh Competition Model
Unlike traditional setups with school-led prep, this format partners students with local shops. Selected participants job-shadow at service facilities, training alongside pros—think future head mechanics—on skills tailored to the technician marketplace. Our automotive headhunters ensure these experiences translate to auto shop positions, offering best paying jobs for mechanics through strategic apprentice recruiting.
Mechanics Marketplace Leads the Way
With eight years of 5-star mechanics marketplace reviews, we’re the mechanic hub bridging talent and opportunity. From how Gen Z is becoming the toolbelt generation to seasoned pros, our automotive technician headhunters connect shops with the market auto body shop talent they need. These competitions showcase the automotive recruitment power of collaboration.
